further afield…..

We are also ideally situated to discover the culture and beauty of the Dordogne and the Vezere rivers, with a wealth of castles, bastide towns, caves (including the famous Lascaux) and gardens to visit. Sarlat, the most visited and renowned medieval town in the area, is less than an hour away.  Even closer is Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, and closer still is the village of Limeuil, classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France. The weekend markets in Sarlat & Bergerac (both Saturday), and Issigeac & Saint Cyprien (both Sunday) are very popular with both locals and visitors alike, as are many others in towns and villages locally during the week.  Beautiful vineyards around Bergerac offer plenty of opportunities for wine-tasting, Château de Tiregand and Château de Monbazillac are both within a 45 minute drive. Visits to the beautiful town of Saint-Emilion and city of Bordeaux make a wonderful day out and both can be reached by car in under two hours or via direct train link from the station in Tremolat.

The short film below gives a little taster of our beautiful region including the majestic Château de Beynac, the Cathédrale Saint-Etienne at Cahors and the wonderful gardens at Marqueyssac just south of Sarlat-la-Canéda. It also features our own Le Vieux Logis in Tremolat (at 3.05 mins)
